OmniPage Professional 16 Review: The Best OCR software

What can Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software can do?  As long as it recognizes documents accurately and reasonably quicker, where's the space for improvement? In fact, Nuance claims several notable improvements for OmniPage Professional 16 to keep its leadership in these marketing.

More Accuracy:
OmniPage 16 is 16 and 27 percent more accurate than the old version, while at the same time being up to 46% faster. On top of this, it should be able to compensate for lens distortions in pictures of pages taken with a camera, automatically black out words in sensitive documents and handle electronic and paper forms. It can produce documents in Microsoft Office 2007's XPS format and includes copies of both PaperPort 11 (Nuance's document management application) and PDF Converter 4 which, as you might guess, converts documents to PDF format.

Having scanned a document and recognised its characters, the program then proof read it and claimed 100 per cent accuracy, even though there were two instances of the same typo in the text. Quicker
OmniPage did finish the recognition in just over a few seconds, which is quick, and even a more complicated page with graphics and boxed text took no more than 12 seconds. Even here, there are noticeable discrepancies. Some are understandable, like misreading of colored text from the original, while others, such as differences in font and text style, are less acceptable.

The Bulk Export
I found  that most of larger company user will request the bulk export function. For example, with a 100 page document, that's hours of work to copy and paste all of that data onto one tab! However, the Omnipage 14 do have great function to save your time. But the Omnipage Professional 15 & Omnipage Professional 16 just miss that function. What is more, if you can not downgrade Omnipage Professional 15 or 16. Even you use Omnipage Professional 15 or Omnipage Professional  16, once you install the Windows XP services pack 2, that function will be disable for it has some bug.
